Our Origin Story
Stone Studios began from the ashes of a career with the Government of Canada and the Bank of Canada. Shane left his life as an economist in Ottawa and fell in love with the ocean and mountains of coastal British Columbia. A childhood interest in filmmaking quickly grew into a full-service video production company, with a focus on delivering real, measurable results to clients.
In 3 short years, our reputation has grown as we produced videos from Los Angeles to the remote wilderness of Vancouver Island. We’ve shot in the studio or from an open helicopter, and we’ve had the pleasure of interviewing both local businesses and international brands like Microsoft, Mazda, and TD.
Meet the Surf and Stone Team
Shane is an analytical-creative at heart. He’s the only creative director with a masters in economics that we’ve come across to date. His ability to identify marketing challenges and produce creative solutions is paralleled only by his energy on set and knack for making people at ease while the camera’s running.
Morgan is our behind-the-scenes solutions architect. His ability to build a compelling story from terabytes of footage is second to none. Every edit is strategically designed thanks to a strong background in marketing.
When required, we have an extensive network of creatives in Victoria and Vancouver that can enhance any project. Our network includes the talent of many: Directors of Photography, Drone Operators, Sound Recordists, Actors, Make Up Artists, Voice Over Artists and Photographers.
